Washington Residential Care Home

Washington Residential Care Home

Located almost equal distance from Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham this service provides excellent transport links to this trio of cities and many local attractions.

Housing Support

This service is a CQC registered care home owned by Bernicia; providing accommodation and personal care to adults who have a learning disability. The home owners retain responsibility for maintaining the properties.

Two separate houses are encompassed by this single service, each providing care to six Clients. Both are detached, with ground floor bedrooms and easy wheelchair access to accommodate people with physical difficulties.

The aim of the service is to offer our clients a good quality of life by promoting independence as far as possible and a valued lifestyle through access to community based activities.

Initial referral is through Sunderland Social Services and the local Health Authority. The needs of each person will be identified through an assessment undertaken by care management. If the service is deemed appropriate, then the relevant parties will agree a care plan.

Local Activities

Washington offers numerous pastimes including a leisure centre, art centre, library, restaurants, bowling alley and the Galleries Shopping Centre & Retail Park. The historic Penshaw monument is 4 miles away.

The Staff

Staff are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This gives our clients the reassurance that help is always at hand.
