Employment Services

For over 30 years Azure’s Employment Services department has worked with thousands of people with a disability or long term health condition to find and retain employment.

Azure's Person-Centred Active Support is core for all of our Employment Services programmes.

We have successfully delivered a wide range of employability programmes on behalf of a variety of funders such as Jobcentre Plus, DWP, ESF, Shaw Trust and Remploy and have worked in partnership with over 70 employers including Marks & Spencer, the NHS and Northumberland Wildlife Trust to identify and develop the skills and training needed for entry into the world of work.

Supported Businesses

Supported Businesses are those where over 50% of the workforce has a disability or long term health condition. Azure’s businesses include: a Garden Centre, Landscapes division, Printing & Design and a Business Centre. Our Employment Services Team provide encouragement, advice and guidance to those working within these businesses.

Supported employment develops the skills that people with disability and or disadvantage can bring to the workplace. We understand the needs of the employer and the employee and arrange the right support to maintain employment and develop a career.

Work in Progress

Delivered throughout Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland on behalf of Jobcentre Plus, Work in Progress is a specialist programme of support designed for people with learning disability, Asperger’s or autism.
Although the programme only began in October, we have already received over 80% of our allocated numbers of referrals and places are filling up fast.
This programme is about what you are as person and the help you need to move closer to the world of work. You might need help with thing like:
• Careers Advice
• Confidence Building
• Understanding the world of work
• Personal presentation
• Interview skills
• Gaining work experience
• How to job search
• Travel training
• Dyslexia screening

Many of our clients benefit from work experience placements which help them develop their employability skills, social skills and which provide them with an opportunity to do something which adds real value and has real meaning.
