Graham Barnard, Chair of Azure Charitable Enterprises, has announced that Peter Wilson will be the next Chief Executive of the Charity.
The appointment comes following Peter Elliott’s decision to retire after 21 years’ of outstanding and dedicated service to the Charity.
Peter Wilson will join Azure from Middlesbrough College where he is currently Managing Director of both Middlesbrough College and the Northern Skills Group.
Middlesbrough College is now one of the country’s leading General Further Education Colleges while Northern Skills Group has, over the last five years, become one of the largest apprenticeship training providers in the North of England.
Peter, who lives with his family in Hexham, has spent the last 20 years working not only across Higher and Further Education but also with Local Authorities (supporting regional economic development) and extensively with the charity sector supporting the development and delivery of key services.
He is a Patron of the Priory Trust in Lincoln, a charity that works with disadvantaged people across Lincolnshire and increasingly with local employers who share the charity’s commitment to creating opportunities for young people.
Peter is also a Trustee of the High Tide Foundation, a charity that works with employers across Teesside to raise aspiration and provide opportunities for school children to experience first-hand what it means to work in some of Teesside’s leading businesses.
Graham Barnard LLM, Azure’s Chair, said: “We are delighted to announce that Peter will be our new Chief Executive. The experience he brings from his current role and previous positions will be an excellent fit with Azure and we look forward to a flourishing future.”
Peter Wilson commented on his recent appointment: “I am delighted to be joining Azure at this time and look forward to working with colleagues and stakeholders who quite clearly share the same determination to raise aspiration, create opportunity and improve the quality of life of the people we serve”.
