Baby Plants

Azure Nurseries

Azure Nurseries was one of the founding departments of the Charity, with the early glasshouses built in 1986.

They were significantly extended to 5,000 square metres in 1995 and only just recently reduced to 3,750 square metres in 2017 when one block was transformed into warehousing for the Garden Centre.

The Nurseries has had a varied history which included growing poinsettias and strawberries to name a few but now the main focus is on growing bedding plants for the Garden Centre.

The team produce thousands of bedding packs, 1 litre plants and planted up hanging baskets which retail from the Garden Centre throughout the year. Each year they work hard to increase production which in turn reduced the amount of stock bought in from outside and this year the team look set to produced nearly 40,000 items of stock.

Production is currently focused on growing Antirrhinum, Argyranthemum, Begonia, Cosmos, Dahlia, Fuchsia, Lobelia, Marigold, Nemesia, Pansy, Petunia, Surfinia, Verbena, Viola and more.
