Who is Workstep for?

Workstep is for anyone with a disability, mental health issue or long term health condition who wants to work and would benefit from support to find and stay in a job

You must be at least 16 years or over.

What will Workstep offer me?

Workstep can offer you the support and advice you need to overcome any barriers you may face to finding and staying in work.

Barriers to employment:

• fear of losing benefits
• employer perceptions and attitudes
• lack of confidence or independence
• training needs

What support will I get?

You will have your own Adviser who can offer you support to:

• look for work and apply for jobs
• find a job that suits you
• stay in your job
• train to develop your skills
• move into open employment when it is right for you

You can also talk to our Welfare Benefits Adviser to make sure you know what's happening with your benefits.

What type of job can I do with Workstep support?

There are no limits to the type of work that you can do. Your Adviser will support you to find a job that is right for you. The job must simply:

• be permanent or expected to last for a minimum of 6 months
• at least 16 hours per week
• comply with current employment legislation

How long does Workstep last?

Your Adviser will support you while you are looking for a job. When you get a job, your Adviser can give you and your employer support for as long as you want.
